Your challenge
The Manager Supply Chain oversees and manages every stage of the production flow, from purchasing the raw materials to the delivery of the final product. Ensuring the right amount of product is made at the right time, as well as coordinating the storage of the product. Organizing the movement of goods from distribution centers to customers and stores involves forecasting trends and managing inventories.
The Manager Supply Chain is responsible for managing material procurement, inventory levels, job scheduling, customer service, logistics, material handling, and shipping/receiving. Key metrics for success in this role include supplier on-time delivery, purchase price variance, cost reductions, inventory days on hand, inventory accuracy, customer on-time delivery, and customer satisfaction.

I am Jelle Warnar, managing director of Vernay Europa B.V. since May 2019. I have been hired to enable a change in culture, move in the future, make Vernay more competitive, develop Vernay to be a reliable partner for her customers and prepare Vernay for the transition from combustion engine to electrification. For this reason Vernay focusses on the automation of its production processes (Smart Industry 4.0), work as efficient as possible (Lean production) and develops new products for the future.
Vernay in Oldenzaal is mainly working for the automotive industry, a very demanding market where lean organization and production are key. We develop our personnel, from operator to engineer, working efficient and understanding the lean six sigma principles.
I enjoy working for Vernay. I get challenged by our customer but also by my team. We try to solve issues together so the customer receives its products in time and at the right quality. Working together makes Vernay strong.
Gerali Kuipers
Manager Operations
My name is Gerali and I have been working at Vernay as Operations Manager since March 2021. Broadly speaking, I am responsible for our production and Technical Services. I do this together with six team leaders, three process engineers and our Head of Technical Services. Together, we provide an overview of the operational activities at Vernay.
Cooperation, that's what it's all about here. Vernay's automated processes suggest that everything happens automatically, but nothing could be further from the truth and that is precisely what makes my job so much fun. The human factor is essential, and together with my team, we go out of our way to get our colleagues on the same page.
Managing teams and fostering cooperation is a great challenge and gives me satisfaction every day. 'Every 'link' has an important role in the growth of Vernay as an organisation. Here, we offer room for own initiative, personal development and challenge. In my position, I get the freedom to put my own stamp on improvements and opportunities and that is what makes it so nice here.

What do we expect from you?
Manage supply base and Approved Supplier List for Vernay Europe (procurement). This includes negotiating best component costs and lead times, driving strong supply on-time delivery, and managing efficient inventory levels.
Source components to new suppliers when needed. Facilitate supplier selection for Sales & Engineering.
Score supplier performance in terms of quality, delivery, and cost in collaboration with Quality.
Oversee factory order fulfillment through the entire process: from customer order receipt through final product shipment.
Ensure robust contracts with suppliers and customers.
Assist locally in the negotiation and procurement of tooling and machinery.
Continually improve the efficiency of material flow through the factory and manager the costs involved while maintaining quality
Manage efficient inventory levels to protect against out of stock situations while also minimizing working capital.
Implement new technologies and stay alert to new trends and developments in the sector.
Profile
HBO+/WO education in a technical direction, e.g. Technical Business Administration, Mechanical Engineering or similar.
Minimum of five years' work experience as a Materials Manager / Production Manager / Contract Manager in the rubber or plastics industry strongly preferred.
Strong planning skills and a logical and systematic approach to work.
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
Excellent relationship management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external teams.
Understanding of risk management in the context of the supply chain.
Strong experience in LEAN manufacturing or similar. Six sigma experience is a strong plus.
