We are seeking a Cost Accountant to join our team in Havre de Grace, MD. This role is integral to our finance and operations teams, driving efficiency and cost optimization within our manufacturing processes.

Position Overview

As the Cost Accountant, you will play a critical role in ensuring the financial efficiency of our manufacturing operations. You will establish and review standard costs for our products, ensuring accuracy and alignment with production goals. Collaborating closely with the Supply Chain team, you’ll oversee inventory management to optimize resource allocation. A key part of your role will be monitoring production variances and analyzing production rates to identify opportunities for improvement. By providing strategic insights, you’ll help drive cost efficiency across production, operational expenses (OPEX), and capital expenditures (CAPEX). Additionally, you’ll serve as a trusted business partner to the management team, contributing to informed decision-making and overall company success.

Essential Functions

Manage and adjust inventory. Calculate and monitor production rates and variances (e.g., PPV, MUV, CCV).

Conduct profitability analyses for products and product lines.

Monitor OPEX plans versus actuals and forecast with area managers.

Calculate and analyze logistics costs. Review product margins and standard costs. Oversee cost center structures.

Support Supply Chain with demand planning and ensure compliance with internal controls for cost accounting.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary: $70,000 – $80,000 annually, plus a 7% bonus opportunity.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or related fields.

Minimum of 3 years of experience in cost accounting, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

Knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS.

Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365 ERP is preferred.
